GRAFT COMMUNITY CIC

In October 2022 the founders of Graft, Rob and Sophie, set up a Community Interest Company, Graft Community CIC, focussed on bringing community art projects to more people across the Bristol area.

Our first large-scale project as a CIC was completed in 2025, when we painted a mural on the newly renovated Swannery building at Wellspring Settlement, celebrating the community of Barton Hill past and present.

The mural was informed by eight community engagement workshops with groups of all ages and backgrounds, including the Barton Hill History Group, Swannery youth club, Barton Hill Academy, City Academy and the Wellspring Art for Wellbeing Group.

The project was funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, Bristol City Council Originators Fund and National Grid.

We are now working on our second funded project, with Headway Bristol and The Hive Avon, co-creating murals alongside adults with learning disabilities and brain injuries.

This project is funded by Quartet Community Foundation's Express Grant.

Graft Community CIC is comprised of five Directors:

Sophie Higgins Wheeler - Project Manager

Rob Wheeler - Lead Artist

Colette Parker - Associate Artist

Simon Phillimore - Non-Executive Director

Zoë Hewett - Non-Executive Director

We aren't always able to update our website, as we're busy working on projects!
